<![CDATA[WNC Counseling - Blog, Events, Workshops, & Groups]]>Mon, 21 Aug 2017 23:01:58 -0700Weebly<![CDATA[Solar Eclipse from the Grove Park Inn]]>Tue, 22 Aug 2017 02:44:13 GMThttp://wnccounseling.com/blog-events-workshops--groups/solar-eclipse-from-the-grove-park-innToday we came together to witness a solar eclipse. For my group and I it was a celebratory time of camaraderie and fun. Solar eclipses bring people together in a shared experience allowing us to feel a oneness in a way that few other experiences provide.
For some, solar eclipses represent new beginnings, and an opportunity to create a space of demarkation of a life change. New beginnings can feel energizing and exciting or a bit trepidatious. Remember, change takes time, usually more time than the transiting of a solar eclipse.

Solar eclipse viewed on August 21, 2017, Grove Park Inn, Asheville, NC. Clouds started to form here, just a few minutes before the 99% peak. This video is meant to show some of the effects, of darkening of the sky, as well as people's actions, in viewing the eclipse. The clouds somewhat confuse the issue, though. Guests and many staff viewed the eclipse overlooking the Asheville skyline. Click the video and drag your pointer across the screen to change your perspective. That's almost always helpful, to consider things from different viewpoints.

<![CDATA[A new location in the new year]]>Sun, 22 Jan 2017 06:40:27 GMThttp://wnccounseling.com/blog-events-workshops--groups/a-new-location-in-the-new-yearPicture
We've moved to north Asheville, near Reynolds Mountain. It's a nicer location, in many ways, although it doesn't offer as many amenities. We really miss the art gallery, but it is in our plans to bring it back as soon as we can.
We're now located at 201 Stoneridge Blvd., sharing office space with Healing Touch Massage. We've got some lovely neighbors, with two dining options, if you're interests lie along the lines of Thai food or burgers. It feels very safe, well lit, and welcoming.

<![CDATA[Asheville Artist Janet Bray]]>Wed, 01 Jun 2016 23:04:40 GMThttp://wnccounseling.com/blog-events-workshops--groups/asheville-artist-janet-brayMonday, June 13 saw the celebration of the work of Janet Bray, the artist whose work will be on display through August. Janet works in a number of artistic media, including watercolor, acrylic, ceramics, Russian Nesting Dolls, and botanicals. Her work is inspired by nature, primarily focusing on animals and plants.
The open house was attended by many, who viewed the art, socialized with each other, and got the chance to meet Janet, Lauren, and Art Director Patricia Veatch..

<![CDATA[Open House, Featuring Artist Sharon Sandel]]>Tue, 19 Apr 2016 02:12:18 GMThttp://wnccounseling.com/blog-events-workshops--groups/open-house-featuring-artist-sharon-sandelWNC Counseling and The Mind Body Connection, sponsors of Highlight Art Gallery, are pleased to present an exhibition of paintings by Sharon Sandel. Picture
A reception for the artist will be held on April 27, 2016 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Please join us for cuisine and libations with Sharon.

Sharon works in traditional oil, acrylic, and watercolor mediums, and loves exploring new ways of using these materials. Her work is inspired and delightful. Time spent split between Weaverville, North Carolina and Vero Beach, Florida is represented in the distinct environments present in the content of her work. Her love of play of light on water and scenery is beautifully reflected in her pieces.

The exhibition will open on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at 5:30 and will be on view through Friday, June 3, 2016, by appointment only.

RSVP required to attend, 828-782-3388

<![CDATA[The Grand Opening Celebration]]>Sat, 20 Feb 2016 18:59:15 GMThttp://wnccounseling.com/blog-events-workshops--groups/the-grand-opening-celebrationWhat a blast! On February 8, 2016, Hope, Kelly, and I hosted a grand opening celebration, with a Mardi Gras theme. Picture
What fun, thanks ESPECIALLY to the more than 50 people who visited and stayed, enjoying the company, Mardi Gras music, and great food! We ate lots of jambalaya and other goodies, but the big hit was the two incredible king cakes donated to us for the celebration, shipped in overnight from Haydel's Bakery in New Orleans. Thanks to all those who made it happen, including my co-host, Mind Body Connection Massage Therapy, and featured artist Patricia Veatch.
